For behold! I am the All Seeing, All Wailing Queen of the weather faeries! My armies of wind and rain have come to banish Old Man winter from our shores!

The dreaded Frost Bite shall be dragged on his knees before me to face my terrible wrath! And I shall decree that the condemned will be locked in the closet until about mid-June when we need him to hold the popsicles and ice cream!

Woot!

So, where the hell is it??  It should be rainy and windy in mid-March - it should NOT still be snowing!  WTH!!  I am going to hunt Old Man Winter down myself if this doesn't let up soon.

Grrr

Hermit-Mode

Hi Everyone,

I know I have been quiet lately (busy, having some emotional issues, busy again, sleepy, then busy again), but I am still here, and hoping to post something of substance soon.

I have had some good news over the last week:  my kitty's diabetes is apparently going into remission.  This means that he is down from 4 units of insulin twice a day to two units once a day.  In a week or so (probably closer to two), we are going to go back for a check up to see if he can be taken off of it entirely.

This is really exciting for me, not only because it means that my kitty will be healthy again, but also because it will mean no more $400/month vet bills.  I will actually be able to have a savings account again!!  I'll be able to buy supplies for my course and pay for the next course in the fall!

Maybe even buy myself some new clothes.  Yay!

Not much else is going on.  The weather has turned somewhat fall-ish, but it is supposed to be sunny again by the end of the week (which should give my sun-burned lips just enough time to heal ... who ever heard of having a sunburn on their lips, anyway!)

I have been spending a lot of time at the beach the past month.  I love the ocean so much!  We have managed to only eat out at good restaurants, thus cutting down how often we eat out by quite a bit.  We even went to see the new Indiana Jones movie (awesome movie - go see it ... like right now!).

I don't know what it is about stories set in the early-mid twentieth century, but they make me feel strangely nostalgic.  Which is bizarre because I wasn't born until 1980.  Ah well, that is a pondering for another day.

Time to get back to work.  Just wanted to let you all know that I am still alive.

It was beautiful out today when I left for work. Sunny with just a bit of cloud and a nice cool breeze. Apparently, the weather faeries took it upon themselves to use this gorgeous day to listen to my complaints about the day before which had been unbearably hot and muggy as all hell.

I come out tonight, and it is cold and it is raining. Not a nice summer drizzle, no, this is Lake Cowichan Rain. We call it that because it doesn't rain anywhere like it does in Lake Cowichan (the town I grew up in). There, it rains so hard, that you actually have to turn your windshield wipers off in order to be able to see out of the window at all. It rains so hard that a trip to the end of the driveway and back gets you soaked down to your underthings. Not a word of exaggeration. I grew up in a valley in a rain forest. I know rain. When you cannot see in front of you because it is raining so hard, THAT is rain.

Strangely enough, there wasn't a lot of flooding. I guess our village was built in a good spot, only the houses on the river bank had to worry about flooding, but I digress.

Tonight's rain would ease off, and there were times when it outright stopped. Then it would start again, and the sky would open up and just pour! I comfort myself with a warm coffee and the knowledge that it is good for the trees. But damn! I wasn't ready for this walking home wearing capris and a tank top with no jacket!

The weather faeries are trying my patience Tongue Out 12 They had better let it be nice on Sunday or else!

I woke up this morning to being able to see only gray outside my window.  The fog was so thick that I couldn't see across the street.  I love it when it is like this!

The rain has lifted and all that remains is the fog and the sun battling it out to see which will win the day ;)  I am gonna take some pictures!

Dear Weather Faeries,

When I was standing at the bus stop and I asked for you to ease up on the rain until my bus got there, I did not mean turn the downpour into a snowpour. I will endeavor to be more specific in the future.

Now, If you wanna just stop this blizzard so that [livejournal.com profile] wintersdark can get home safely, that would be great.

KTHNXBYE

Run for the hills! It's teh global warming!!! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

You know, all this alarmist crap making the news is really starting to bother me. Here is a direct quote from last night's weather cast:

"We haven't seen winter temperatures this warm in over half a century of record keeping."

Umm, 'scuse me? Half a century? As in 50 years?? Do you ignorami have any idea how long there has been weather?? You want people to panic because the planet has the nerve to change weather patterns over the course of 50 years?

You know, I have come to expect to see news casters blow things out of proportion when I watch the American stations (for some reason, they seem to think that the news has to be exciting there or people will switch to the OC for knowledge of what is going on in the world ... or something). But, I have always been happy to say that our local news station just tells it like it is. Impartial and accurate.

In the last several weeks of 'extreme weather coverage', there has only been one segment that had a scientist telling people that, 'Hey! It is winter, people! Storms happen in the WINTER!!'

I am very against scare tactics used to get people to do the right thing. There are better ways to motivate people. I mean, do you tell your kids that a crazy person will cut their ears off if they don't clean their rooms?

Though, to be fair, my mom did used to tell me not to make funny faces or the wind would change and it would get stuck that way. Unfortunately, I have never been able to hold a funny face long enough to try that out :P

It Is Too Hot

It has gotten unbearable in just one day! I had to go out to run errands this evening (about 6pm), and we were literally running between buildings so that we could be in the air conditioning. The *wind* is hot! This has got to be what hell is like (except without the clear blue sky).

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go and have a cold shower so I don't melt into a puddle :oP
