I think I may have found a template that I can use to remake my website. It's simple, clean and artistic - and it has minimal flash. It's shocking how few website templates seem to be designed for a variety of personal content. There are lots and lots of page designs for photo/art portfolios and plenty that are designed for blog content (and then there are your average business-style sites). But very few combine the two and allow for something that isn't just a general overview of the hobbies of the site owner.
Any template I use will have to be altered. Hopefully, I can keep the alterations to a minimum - I prefer to not have to learn a lot of coding and do a lot of graphic-work to get what I need.
Ideally, I would like to hire someone to design a custom site just for me, but that is a lot of money that I don't have to spend on something like that right now. Maybe after I've completed my photography courses and have a business to advertise.
I think I am going to integrate my wordpress blog into the site. I am going to keep the articles, book reviews and the sabbat celebration sections. I might get rid of the BOS section, though. I'm not as into the educating the newbie masses as I used to be. I don't mind sharing my opinions and the outer trappings of my practise, but a lot of the rest has become something that is not really for public consumption. I'm not really looking to create a tradition or gathering followers.
Along with the new look, I think I'll need a new name for the site. 'Into the Land of the Phae' is kind of fun and kind of whimiscal, but I think it's also indicitive of a much younger me. The new site is going to be more visual, more modern, more reflective of where I'm at now in my life. I think I need a title that will reflect that - something shorter, sleeker - something memorable.
Anyway, that is the plan as it stands now. How fast it comes together depends on how calm life decides to be for the next while. Hopefully, the snow of last week is the last we will see this year. It was up to about 10C today and sunny. It was great! I didn't realize how bad the cabin fever was until I was actually outside and running around.
Yay for spring!

Yay! It's spring! This year, March 6th was the first official day of spring. The turning of the season, when winter was completely gone from the air (it was warm the day before, but the bite came back when it got dark). I am going to see if I can mark turning of each season this year. Summer is going to be a tough one to pinpoint, I think.

I am gonna do this now, because I feel like hiding from my computer for a few days (or the internet at least, I have a novel scene to type out).
1) Today I am grateful for folk music. Canadian maritime folk music really gets me into the right place for writing my novel lately. The song 'Sex and Beer' always makes me smile (and inspires me to keep at my whistle lessons).
2) I am also grateful for harvest time. The seasonal fruit is in, and I can finally do my canning for this year! I am so excited about that.
3) I am also grateful for World of Warcraft which recently has provided me a restful refuge that I have sorely needed (I know that is a bad one, but some days I just need to be away from real life).

I am bad at this. I admit it. And I am very tired again, but here goes:
1) I am grateful for my muse. I have managed, after a bump in an early section of my novel that was just *bad*, to get the juices flowing again and I have been writing (re-writing) pretty steadily.
2) I am grateful for the rain. I miss it in the summer. I love the smell of fall that comes in mid August. It promises of warmth and comfort, and of celebrations and the joys of home life and family. I can really understand why it is good luck to be married in the fall as opposed to the spring. I want nothing more on days like these than to snuggle up under a soft blanket with my man and a hot cup of chocolate.
Which leads to -
3) I am grateful for great sex. Night shifts and too many days of rushed 'I love you's as we pass eachother on our ways to work take its toll. Though, there is something to be said for missing eachother ~_^

For those of you wondering where I have been the last little while, we got our new computer, and
wintersdark has been working on getting the two networked together so that we can both be using the internet at the same time.
We have windows re-installed on the new computer, and we should be up and running again in a few days. On top of that, we bought World of Warcraft to go with the new computer, and in the times that it wasn't crashing (it needed a new graphics card too), I have been thoroughly addicted ~_^
So, I may not be around as much as Yule is on its way, and I am way behind on everything that I need to get done, and my novel has been eating at my brain as well. I just wanted to let everyone know that I am still alive, and all is well (or will be when the craziness of this season is finally over).

... it is snowing outside. And it is actually sticking this time! I love the snow. Practically, it pisses me off, but there is something about it that is just so magical. I love to stand at the window and just watch it snow.
When I was a kid, I used to sit by our big living room window with a cup of hot chocolate and watch snow and storms and all the other extreme weather we used to get in the valley. I feel very nostalgic today. I think I will make myself a nice cup of hot chocolate.
Mmmmm!
