Anyone heard of this?  Anyone interested in trying it with me?  I still have a lot of research to do to figure out just what food is local to me (I know that cranberries are ... so, yay!), but I wanted to give it a shot for ... oh, say, the summer.  I am thinking that beyond being a way to help the environment, it might also be a great way to reconnect with the seasons.

Anyone who is interested in more info:

Today I am grateful for second thoughts. I usually don't like second guessing myself, but today it paid off. This is prolly TMI for many folks ... )

I will end this with another hurray for successful diets. Hurray! *happysmallerpagandancing*

Today I am grateful for a diet plan that is actually working. One more size smaller and I will have hit my long term goal. I hit my goal for the summer a few weeks ago, and today I bought new jeans that illustrate my success. ^_^

--Phae
Sunshine ... coffee that *doesn't* spill on me ... $40 embroidered jeans on sale for $10 ... 2 sizes smaller (4 if you don't count the fact that jeans only seem to come in even sizes) than when I started my diet.

Yay ^_^

WooHoo! I have hit my summer goal! I went out today in my size 16 cargo pants. They are still a little snug, but they fit and they make my butt looks great! Yay!! *happylosingweightdance*

Also, I have been writing a little bit every day since I first posted about going back to my novel. I am going to be typing some stuff up and will post a bit for the P&C filter either tonight or tomorrow morning.

Yay!

On a more positive note this morning ... I am noticably losing weight! Hooray! I haven't gotten a scale, yet ... not really willing to part with $40 for something that I am going to end up hating ... but there have been some very encouraging clues (ones I remember from the last time I dropped a significant amount of weight).

First, my bras are starting to fit properly again! So, yay! No having to go and restock for a larger size (which at this point would be E or DDD ... thanks, but DD is expensive enough).

Next, my pants are growing longer ... this was the major one for me when I was young and first living out on my own (mostly) ... my pants kept getting longer and longer (before the waistband got too big and I just had to buy new pants altogether).

Also, I have to actually wear my belt with my pants now, or they will fall down ... and, I have started wearing one hole smaller on my belt!

Yay, me!

Well, I made it whole week on the hard part. Unfortunately, [livejournal.com profile] wintersdark and the All Mighty Bank Account have made it abundantly clear that we really can't afford to keep eating like this right now. Potatoes, rice, pasta, bread, all these things are what stretch your meals ... I have been buying food everyday even after doing a big shop, and that is just too much.

I'm not wholey giving up, though, I am just progressing to Phase 2 a little early. The good news is that when we were in 7/11 (WD just HAD to have his slurpee), I chose an apple because the thought of eating any of the pre-packaged snacks made me kind of sick. Good thing ^_^

I am a bit depressed at the whole thing, though. I still feel like a royal failure, but I am sure I will get over it (once the hormones decide to go away). Safeway sells a nice soft oatmeal bread that I have fallen in love with ~_^

That is about all. I just thought I would give everyone the skinny (or not-so skinny as the case may be).

I am Strength

I am Power and Beauty

I am a Witch with PMS

Stay the Fuck out of my way!

I don't think I could have picked a worse week to start a diet if I tried! I was so desperate for chocolate today that I actually bought a sugarless chocolate bar (not all that bad, actually ... it calmed the rage for a while). What I really want is a hot fudge sundae with whipped cream and a cherry ... have I mentioned how much I miss fruit! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!

8 more days to go! Only 8 more days until fruit ... eep!

Starting Monday, I am actually going to do something about my chubbiness. I am 5' 9" and wear a size 18/19 (I stay away from scales because I find them too depressing ... plus, I really don't know what a good weight to shoot for is), I want to get down to a size 13/14 (the size I was when WD and I first moved over here). Curvy, but still slender ... I look at pictures of me back then, and I have decided that that is how I look best.

So, I am going with the South Beach diet ... mainly because I believe that you shouldn't have to spend your whole life denying yourself the sweet things (and I can't give up carbs forever ... I love bread too much). The first two weeks are going to be a sort of 'clean out' regimine, where the foods I eat are going to be breaking down the insulin resistance that occurs when you eat too much crap.

This means two weeks of no carbs, low fat, high fibre and high protien. A lot like Atkins, actually, but only for two weeks (which makes sense, I have heard from a number of sources that the reason people lose so much weight in the first couple of weeks of a diet is because that is how long it takes for your body to get used to the change in eating habits). The pluses are that I am really looking forward to lots of green veggies ... the cons are that I can't have any fruit for two weeks (sugar).

The little starter magazine has 35 recipies in it for helping you to get started ... there are a bunch of things that look *really* yummy, but I think that I am going to be making a lot of BLT salads for when I don't feel like cooking. We have our new BBQ now as well, so that means that we can do beef/chicken/pork skewers (or even prawns ... but WD doesn't like seafood, so maybe not) ... and I can use whatever seasonings I like so long as they don't have added sugar in them (which should be easy enough for me ... I like to make my own seasoning mixes anyway).

Wish me luck!
