Well, I made it whole week on the hard part. Unfortunately, [livejournal.com profile] wintersdark and the All Mighty Bank Account have made it abundantly clear that we really can't afford to keep eating like this right now. Potatoes, rice, pasta, bread, all these things are what stretch your meals ... I have been buying food everyday even after doing a big shop, and that is just too much.

I'm not wholey giving up, though, I am just progressing to Phase 2 a little early. The good news is that when we were in 7/11 (WD just HAD to have his slurpee), I chose an apple because the thought of eating any of the pre-packaged snacks made me kind of sick. Good thing ^_^

I am a bit depressed at the whole thing, though. I still feel like a royal failure, but I am sure I will get over it (once the hormones decide to go away). Safeway sells a nice soft oatmeal bread that I have fallen in love with ~_^

That is about all. I just thought I would give everyone the skinny (or not-so skinny as the case may be).

And they wonder why more folks in the U.S. are overweight. The bad foods are cheaper and we crave them more. Duh!

No kidding! And if you have any sort of medical problems, it is worse.

The pre-packaged stuff isn't good enough for you. You deserve real food. Authentic food.

Moving forward to the next phase early is sensible, if you ask me. After all, we're not meant to live on a limited diet for very long. Just keep your nose in the air at those fake foods and you'll be fine. Fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains, lean meats: the finest you can afford.

I am eating anything I truly like and losing weight. I just turn my nose up at anything with a silly name (Gogurt? Twinkies? What kind of food has a name like that???), that is made of fake food (the low-fat stuff, for example) or that uses corn syrup (soda is off the menu for me mostly) or artificial sweeteners (I can't have NutraSweet anyway, and the others taste weird to me)

Real food, in amounts that satisfy but don't leave me feeling stuffed. I ask for the doggy bag with my order when we eat out, divide my plate in half and eat the saved for lunch the next day. Or send it to work with Tim, who has also gotten in the habit of dividing most meals out in half.

And MOVE that body! Dance, a little yoga, walking, gardening, and thinking about how I'm moving while doing housework (you can get a good workout just cleaning the house!) and going about my day. Hold the abs in while you're sitting. Sit up straight. Fidget. Yes, fidget. Moving even small amounts burns calories, so make it a habit to have music on and let your feet bounce, tap your fingers, etc.

The music is a big part of me getting moving. For a long time I didn't have it running much, and that led to me not moving much. If I've got tunes on, I'm moving, even while I'm sitting down, and it helps me to get up and get busy, too. Can't sit still while there's something playing that I like to dance to! My house benefits from regular playing of bouncing tunes. :D
