I Be Famous

I am constantly amazed how my words work their way around the web.  I was just about to add a new post to my Wordpress journal, and while parusing any new comments needing approval and seeing what kind of traffic I'm getting in between posts.  Since I have 3 or 4 blogs attached to my Wordpress account, my dashboard also shows me traffic of interest related to those blogs as well.

The one that always seems to get the most attention is Pagan Perspectives.  Just today, I found this linkback to my article blog - http://www.paganconnection.org/pagan-resources/internet/2008/06/29/popular-pagan-blogs/

While I haven't updated my Pagan Perspectives blog in some time (roughly 9 months or so), seeing things like this make me want to get back to writing articles again.  Though, I think that since I have been spending so little time online, my perspective may have changed a bit. I'm not as in touch with what is relevant to the Community anymore.

I think that what I might need to do to get back to writing is to maybe shift my focus.  A little less about my opinion on popular topics and maybe a little more on the things that are important to me now.  I guess we will have to wait and see.

For all those who have subscribed to [profile] pperspectives : If you're wondering why you are all of a sudden being spammed with old essays and articles, an explanation can be found HERE.

That is all.

I have syndicated my Wordpress blogs for LJ!  Since I am obscenely slow at updating my website, my articles can now be found first (unless they are submitted for publication) on Pagan Perspectives at [profile] pperspectives.  And my more craft-centered journal named yet again Into the Mind of the Phae can be found at [profile] phaetalon.

This means that cross-postings will be phased out.  Feel free to comment at Wordpress (though, I will still see them if you comment at syndication page, because I have them friended).

That is my accomplishment for the day (that and a super yummy dinner made from scratch and interesting flavours that I have previously been scared to combine.  Go me!)

Been a While

I spent a good hour this morning trying to explain Paganism to a Christian today (found the post through random tag surfing). Haven’t done that in a while. I think I got a bit rambly. I’m not sure if I know how to cut it down to the short and sweet points anymore.

It got me to thinking about articles that need writing, and things that might be publishable to print magazines. A good and thorough look at Pagan spirituality in contrast to mainstream beliefs would probably find a home in one of our local lifestyle magazines.

A good long rant about how Eclectism isn’t a sin would probably be good for online publication. That one could be a bit of a powder keg, so it might take a while to get the words properly polished.

I have a couple of old article ideas that are still waiting for me to actually write them out. With Tara and Stonehenge being in the news so much lately, I should probably get my ‘Sacred Sites’ article together. Also, I’d like to write out my ‘Glamour’ article.

I think that when I first came up with the idea for ‘Galmour’ it was going to just be a rant about what Western society does to a woman’s self image, and it probably still will be, but I do have a bit of a passion for style and colour and to a lesser degree, make-up. What I need to decide is how to break it into two articles that don’t contradict each other.

I’m not really sure if my style of writing is something that would work on Rending the Veil. Most of what I write are opinion pieces. I would probably be a great columnist ;)

Well, I guess we will see what the day brings.

New Homes

Hi All -

So, I have been playing around with Wordpress - mainly because WD needs a place to put his articles on game design, so he can build a name for himself in the field.  Me, I collect blogs like a magpie collects shinies.

And so now, I have two.  One that will be basically another LJ for my thoughts and random stuff (sans the quizes - memes stay on LJ), and the other is the new home of Pagan Perspectives.

I am eventually going to update my website, but for now, if I am wanting to post an article or outline or just get feedback, this is where the party will be.  I'll also keep it updates with links and info on where you can find my writings.

I figure it is about time that I start getting my articles out of my head and into print.  At least that way, I can say that I am a published ranter ;)

Hey All,

I have spent the last few days working on my website (I had started re-doing it a while ago, and for some reason or other, stopped), and I am about ready to start on the Pagan Perspectives page (ie - the articles).  I have added images to all of my book reviews in order to help people know what to look for when they are at the library or bookstore.

I don't know about most people, but I have an easier time remembering images than I do titles or authors.  Anyway, this got me to thinking about adding images to my articles.  Nothing fancy, maybe just a photo or cute clip art that sort of illustrates the gist of the article.

My question is ... do you think that anyone would appreciate that, or am I just making more work for myself?  I know that at times, it is easier to just skim things rather than actually slow down and read them.  Do you think that an image would help to grab your attention (like newspaper articles often have)?

Have to run, let me know what you think.

Thanks guys,

Busy Weekend

Ok, so website update is mostly done. I am currently working on the new additions to the BoS. I have to write up my Apple visualisation (I'll be putting it up for the C&P crowd before I put it up on the site), and I think I want to write an article as well ... maybe about tools or about the symbolism of the apple.

I worked on Jet's Lessons a bit today, too. Luckily, that I am finding that a lot of my list can be compiled under  larger headings, so I should only have about three or four left. I am gonna take on the hard one later this week (or next weekend).

The weather was gorgeous on Saturday ... kind of cloudy and cold yesterday, and back to gorgeous again this afternoon. I am betting it will be beautiful all the rest of the week because I have to be inside Tongue Out 12

I have discovered what might be causing my plants to be dying off this year. Apparently, you aren't supposed to water your plants with tap water anymore because of anti-bacterial agents which kill all the bacteria in the soil. So, that sucks hard. I am gonna pick up some plant food in the hopes that I haven't done too much damage to them.

That is about all for now. Tomorrow will be my first day of work out of training. So that is pretty exciting Grin 4

The pink hair thing didn't work very well.  It ended up looking a bit like paste, so I am now on the look out for pink permanent dye so that I can put in real streaks.  I will not be thwarted!  LOL  Surprisingly enough, pink isn't all that easy to find.  Red, purple, orange are everywhere, but pink - no so much.

I still have a packet of blond dye.  I think I am going to put in light highlights in the mean time while I search the city for the pink.  Now that I think about it, I figure I probably should start working on the outline of my 'Glamour' article.  And maybe write up an update on my self-image spell (and maybe a plan to renew/recharge it).

That is about all that is on my mind right now.  It has been a very lazy day for me.  The days are starting to have that feeling of summer vacation.  I miss that.  Time to visit the farm markets and the local wineries.

I have decided to make more of my posts open.  It has come to my attention recently, that I have more readers than I had originally thought, and I guess I want the random folks to find stuff on here that is more interesting than a stream of silly quizes.

I have yet to decide if I want to post my new articles here before my website.  I imagine that might end up being a good idea since it takes me so bloody long to update the damned thing anyway.  I do want to have a few on the side that I can submit to some Pagan print magazines.  Witchvox is great, but I have yet to see my opinion in print (well, not since highschool, and they didn't pay me to do it).

Anyway, that is about it for this morning.  I did work on my novel a bit more last night.  It feels really good to be writing again.  Everytime I start I get a little bit closer to finishing it!  Yay!

Happy Tuesday, Folks.

Writing Again

Apr. 1st, 2007 09:29 am
pt_tangles: (LJ Addict)
What started yesterday as an attempt to work on my webpage became a jump right back into the deep end of my novel.  I hadn't left myself any notes (that I have found yet ... I am still looking) about where I was going with the current sections, so there is a bit more that I have to do before I can dive into that one.

I think I am also going to write some articles.  I really need to work out the one on 'Witches and Other Pagans' one.  And I am about ready to boil over with my rant about being Eclectic (which is still in the form of 'OMG STFU!! You SO totally don't know what you are talking about!!!' - which doesn't make for a very good read).  Also, I need to worry out the one on Love Spells.

Maybe I will get some of my webpage done today after all.  Coffee first.  Then some writing ... we'll see what the next eight hours brings.

Self -

Too sleepy right now (Evan-Wentz is worse than Hutton for that), but want to remember to write that post about Witches v Pagans tomorrow.

That is all.
