What the hell is wrong with me?  I am all excited about getting back into drawing and art after so many years - I have school starting soon, and my new jewelry line for the fall, and what am I thinking of?  Writing.  Again.  Finishing my novel.  Starting new stories.

I would like to think that this is just part of my new 'finish what you've started' trend, but I think I may even end up in Nano this year.  My mind is a constant bubble of new ideas and projects to start.  I have even started carrying around a notebook to keep track of just ideas.  Sketches, and short descriptions (jewelry, t-shirt surgery/sewing ideas, writing ideas, painting ideas, comic book ideas, graphic BOS ideas) so that I don't forget anything.  It is filling up fast.

I need to win the lottery so that I will actually have time to create all of these things.  That or just accept that I am crazy and move on.  Gah!

Beauty Sleep

I guess I really hadn't realized just how little sleep I have had recently.  Chronic Insomnia lets you get used to sleeping for only a couple of hours a night.  In the summer, the extra sunlight helps.  Now that fall is in full swing, not having enough sleep makes life hard to deal with.

Yesterday I had a good long nap (which I sorely needed after two far too early mornings in a row), and then went back to bed early, and slept for about 12 more hours.  Today is sunny, and brisk, and I feel better than I have in weeks.

For a long time, I had such trouble with coming up with ideas for stories, and now, my ideas are kind of spinning out of control.  They are mixing together and changing and growing faster than I can keep up with.  Luckily, though, I have some plotting and character exercises that should help me to solidify things again.

I am beginning to think that while I do want to write a short story this month, I might not worry about the guidelines of the contest and just go ahead and start on putting my own collection together.  I'll worry about contests once I have managed to refine my technique again.

NaNo Planning

I have a couple of ideas for NaNo this year.  I could, if I didn't want to start a new story, finish up Hair of the Dog.  I also thought that I would take a bash at filling out the Leona story.  Not sure where that story could go, but I kind of like that for a NaNo story.  I think the combination of the pressure and the open ended story can make for some wicked creativity spurts.  I could also take a bash at writing my Ghost Hunting story.

What I am still having trouble with is finding an idea for a short story to enter in to the CBC contest.  I would like to try and get a collection of shorts together so that I can start submitting stuff to local magazines.  I am hoping that the fall season gives me some inspiration.  Maybe this weird, drifting feeling will be good for something this year ;)
