No, not a meme. This is actually a serious question. Now that my altar is base coated (not sure how I am going to paint the outside yet), I have decided that I am going to upholster the inside. So, I need batting and fabric - and a staple gun. I have the staple gun part, and can get the batting as soon as I get out to a fabric store, but I'm not really sure what sort of fabric to get. Natural fibre? Patterned? Plain? Bright? Velvet?

Help me out here, guys. What sort of fabric do you think of when you think of me?

Much Love Hug 4

I am taking a moment this morning for tea, and to goof around a bit before getting back to the grind.  Yesterday, I cleaned off the balcony, swept and washed the deck, re-potted my african violet (which has been three plants living in one pot for about a year), washed the outside of the sliding glass doors, bought a new flower box and flowers for it, and rescued a few of last years plants that loved me so much that they wanted to come back this year (wormwood, and another plant that I am not really sure what it is anymore.  I also decided that I was going to base my altar with spray paint because the other paint I had just wasn't covering.

Today, I am finishing the base coat of my altar, getting rid of our old rusty BBQ, getting more flowers and more soil so that I can use my old window box in the kitchen for my newly sprouted baby herbs, and then going to Sunday dinner at my SIL's.

I am feeling so active right now, it is crazy!  I want to clean and redo everything!  LOL

I think that the spring cleaning bug finally got me.

I was looking at my desktop background (which is tarot cards, a crystal and a wand), and I figured that I would play with my camera a little.  So, here are my collected altar tools ...  I don't have a full set yet (since my altar itself is still 'in progress'), but the ones I do have I love:

Someday I will have an finished altar to put my fancy stuff on.

Altar Update

Well, I have it mostly sanded down (and all the stickers removed). Unfortunately, it is built a little more sturdily than things today are (being as it is over 20 years old, I shouldn't be that surprised), so there will be no 'popping' out of the front panel. I am a little sad to have to paint over the Winnie the Pooh design that has identified my toybox for so many years.

(for anyone out of the loop ... see, Here)

There are a mountain of pictures of it, tho (and of me when I was small and cute). So, I think that I will just find my favorite one and frame it as a rememberance of what it looked like way back when.

I have some ideas for designs ... I have designed my own Psyche butterfly for the top (which will be covered by an altar cloth, but I intend to make it look nice all the same). I am thinking of going with elemental/seasonal designs for the back lip ... and maybe something similar to this:

for the front panel (just the tree goddess, not the rest). I had originally wanted to just buy the stencil and use it, but I refuse to pay the same amount for shipping that the stencil itself would cost (someone needs to devise a Canada/US postal exchange that won't cost an arm and a leg ... it isn't that far away).

Not sure what I will do for the sides yet. I still have time to think about it, tho. I think I will pick up the base color today, and get going on the first coat of paint.
