Do not read PC while at work. People look at you funny when you start to bash your head against the desk.
Can they not go five freakin' minutes without causing a scene? Is it now a campaign to get rid of the Witchy folk? Do Mari and IG feel that since IG can't be staff that they have to become trolls?
Anyone suppose that they will be treated as trolls for this latest one?
*shakes head*
I almost prefer to read snarky emails from pissed off customers.

Date: 2007-05-23 07:34 am (UTC)Unfortunately, I think the only way to deal with this (as in make it stop) is to either have the Witchy folk leave or make it so uncomfortable for them that they leave (and for real this time).
It seems quite obvious at this juncture that when they said that they didn't want a forum like TC, what they really meant was that they didn't want one that wouldn't put up with their crap.

Date: 2007-05-23 05:43 am (UTC)I figured that bait would have been thrown much sooner. I noticed right after I got on the forum, I checked out Mari's website and she has a page devoted to how her tradition is not wiccan and is therefore better by implication.
Well not even by implication, it is downright insulting in a few places. What is the point to that?
But I doubt it will be treated as trolling.
Maybe I should volunteer to do a staff position.

Date: 2007-05-23 06:03 am (UTC)Our culture raises our children to think that they are entitled to knowledge, and it should come free with little or no effort.
It is a major stumbling block to be told no..sorry you can't have this info.
I like stumbling blocks...they are great growth incentives.

Date: 2007-05-23 07:18 am (UTC)There are people deeply shocked and offended to find out that some people don't believe all bits of info should be spread everywhere. Oh, they tolerate it for things like "troop safety requires secrecy" and "corporate profits require secrecy," but just cannot accept "spiritual connection requires secrecy."
It's different from the "I'm entitled to a good job" theory--they firmly believe that "none of your business" only relates to info that could obviously cause damage to you if it got out. Even telling them "some religious info is like my sex life; I'll share details with some people occasionally, but that doesn't mean I want it all out in public" doesn't work... I've gotten back a flat, "Well, I don't think religion is anything like sex."
Intimacy. It's about disbelief in intimacy. Or perhaps it's because they feel no intimate connections online, and are shocked that anyone else does, or notices a lack of it in some areas.

Date: 2007-05-23 02:15 pm (UTC)That explains why people are so totally passive about the invasion of privacy from government these days.
I did not grok that, it just seems so obvious to me that religion would be a personal intimate issue.
Ok I am shocked that people are that oblivious to intimacy.
I can see where that carries over into a lot of things. Why people really just don't get why it is innapropriate to copy over a post from someone else's journal without permission,...or why copyright infringement is an issue...wow I get now why Maeven just did not have a clue why outing us in a court of law was so wrong.
Wow, brain hurts from that clue bat. Just when I think I have a understanding of how brain dead most people are...something surprises me and I suddenly feel naive.

Date: 2007-05-23 07:36 am (UTC)Have we shackled IG? I am trying really hard not to point out to her that the comment about the 'entitlement crowd' went so far over her head that she would have to stand on the roof to get it.
