New Affirmation
I am Strength
I am Power and Beauty
I am a Witch with PMS
Stay the Fuck out of my way!
I don't think I could have picked a worse week to start a diet if I tried! I was so desperate for chocolate today that I actually bought a sugarless chocolate bar (not all that bad, actually ... it calmed the rage for a while). What I really want is a hot fudge sundae with whipped cream and a cherry ... have I mentioned how much I miss fruit! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!
8 more days to go! Only 8 more days until fruit ... eep!

Seriously, if this diet is one that ends up too difficult, Mattie suggested The Martini Diet. I didn't pick up the book, but read about it. Everything in moderation, exercise, and eat nothing that comes pre-packaged. Want chocolate cake? Go for it, but bake it, don't open a Ho-Ho. Things like that. Pretty neat.

And I don't know about myself (we don't have a scale at home), but WD lost 4 lbs in the first four days. So, it seems to be working for him at least ... I can really only assume that it is working reletively the same for myself.
It has been fun cooking all kinds of new stuff this week too. I may look into that martini diet too, but I want to see this one through.

It is over all about moderation. In the mantanence phase (phase 3), you can actually have junk food, but just not much of it, and you need to make sure that you are getting enough fibre as well so that you blood sugar doesn't spike from it).
I have had problems with mild hypoglycemia because I usually don't eat breakfast, and so I would sometimes get nauseaus, headachey, and this hollow starving feeling at about 11 oclock (which I would have to wait until it passed until I actually *could* eat). Like my insomnia (which I assumed everyone had until I met WD), I didn't really realize that that was a bad thing until I read about this diet.
So far it is working pretty well on the 'not hungry' front. I am getting good at telling when I *will be* hungyr, so that I eat something before that happens.

Eating 5-6 times a day, and those meals and snacks not being crap will blood sugar even and keep the metabolism running at max.

The Protonix I'm taking so I can take the script strength Motrin has markedly decreased my digestion time. Adjusting for that is a PITA, too. Eventually I expect I'll have it sorted out and get a wee bit healthier even if I do not lose any weight.

I've found that my longest and best weight loss came from just not eating when I wasn't physically hungry. I stuff my face with food because I want to sometimes not because it's good or fills my belly. I may have to try something more structures like this. What diet are you following?

It isn't the crux of the diet, tho. The first part is only to clear out the insulin resistance that builds up in your body when you eat processed foods (which causes hypoglycemia, and that desperate NEED for junk food). After that I can start having the things I love again.
I will have to switch to whole grain breads, but I am determined to find one that is just as moist and tastey as white bread ~_^

Giving up white bread happened for me at a very early age. I had a slice of 9-grain and that did it. Pasty white bread just doesn't satisfy my bread-tooth at all. Nasty, sticky stuff IMO. I can't eat it unless it is toasted, and even then I'm apt to pass and do without rather than eat it.
Snobby, aren't I? Yes, I am. I'm too damned good to eat bad food!
