50 Book Challenge Update

Got a book out of the library (yeah, I know, I was gonna read the ones I own first, but this was one I really wanted to read). #16 Chocolat by Joanne Harris. I loved the movie, and since I remembered that it was based on a book, I took a stab and checked our library while I was up there the other day. This one I couldn't put down. It was great! I really loved how much more gypsy/witchie Vianne was in the book (though, I liked the movie ending better), and there is a lot more back story, and you understand Vianne better (as she is the one telling the tale in the book as opposed to Anouk telling it in the movie).

JoAnn Harris has a couple of other food-based books that are either fully or partially set in Lansquenet (the same village as Chocolat in varying time periods). Five Quarters of the Orange and Blackberry Wine.

I liked the former better than the latter.
