... at P/W made me forget what I wanted to write today (and then I had to go to work). I finally got up off my butt, and rewrote the Charge of the Goddess ... I am mixing in some elements of Jet's course (that I am only partly through), with the exercises from Witchcrafting (which I am using as an excuse to get back to meditating and such everyday ... stay tuned for my meditations at the bus-stop post). So, here is what I ended up with:
Listen to the words of the Great Mother, who of old was called among men: Artemis, Minerva, Persephone, Cerridwen, Dana, Isis, Gaia, Demeter, and by countless other names.
Whenever you have need of anything, come once in the month, assembling in some secret place, and under the silver light of the full moon, adore and embrace the spirit of me, Queen of all Witches. Come all who seek to learn sorcery, but have not yet won its deepest secrets; it is here that I will reveal to you all those things not yet known.
In my presence, you shall be free of all bonds; and as a sign of that freedom, you shall be nude in you rites. And you shall dance, my children! Sing and feast, make music and love, all in my praise. My gift to you is the ecstasy of the spirit, and joy upon the earth. My only law is love unto all beings.
Keep pure your highest ideal, and strive ever toward it. Let nothing stand in your way, or turn your attention aside, for my secrets are the door to the Land of Youth, the cup of eternal life, and the cauldron of rebirth.
I am a gracious Goddess, who bestows gifts of joy unto the hearts of all mankind. Upon earth, I give knowledge of the eternal spirit, and beyond death, I give peace, freedom, and reunion with those who have gone before. I demand no sacrifice, for I am the Mother of all living things, and my love is poured out upon the Earth.
Hearken the words of the Star Goddess, the dust of whose feet create the hosts of the heavens, and whose body encircles the Universe. I, who am the beauty of the green earth, the white Moon among the stars, the mystery of dark waters, and the desire of the heart, call unto your soul.
Arise and come unto me, I am the very force of nature, who gives life to the universe. From me all things are born, and unto me all things must return. Before me, beloved of both gods and men, let your innermost divine self be revealed and enfolded in the rapture of the infinite.
Let my worship be felt in the joyous heart, for all acts of love and pleasure are my rituals. Always let there be beauty and strength, power and compassion, honor and humility, mirth and reverence, within you.
And to you who would search for me, know that your yearning and seeking will avail you not until you learn the mystery: if that which you seek you do not find within, you will never find it without. Remember, I have been with you from the beginning, and I m that which is attained at the end of desire.
I may rewrite it again in a few months or in a year. But that is what I have now.
