Like how gay marriage will bring about the end of the world? *rolls eyes*

http://syndicated.livejournal.com/the_wildhunt/297344.html

You know, when people start twisting themselves into knots over a student group supporting a festival, that is when you know that they have entirely too much time on their hands. My mom used to give us extra chores when we were so bored that we started to fight with eachother. Perhaps the church should take the same stance.

"So, you have nothing better to do than insight violence against a group of folks dancing and chanting? Here is a city slum. Go make it better."

If we could do that everytime some group makes a fuss over nothing, we should have solved the problem of homelessness in the United States within a year. Good idea, eh?

Indeed. Fights or saying "I'm bored" (by word or deed) should have exactly that result. Because if you're making a fuss over nothing, you obviously need something constructive to do. And if you're bored, well, I can always find something that needs fixed or cleaned up.

I like the idea of "good deed chores" for the bored people. I wish the homeless problem were not so complex that it could be handled in such a way, but it is not. Many other probems could dealt with though.

One of many vast lofty ideas is to create a building/apartment area where homeless can come and learn a skill, get therapy (those that need it and there will also be a psychologist on staff for medication needs), medical treatment, and have a place to live and have an address so that people can get back on their feet with the tools they need.

Its a lofty goal, and would take large amounts of time and energy to implement, but I think it would be a wonderful thing to happen. I am still work on the idea, bcause I would need an apartment complex and a building for the trainning, plus working with local doctors, therapists, and other professionals for the treatments and training skills.

Also part of it would be maybe working on getting small scholarships to local community colleges and colleges for those that wish to continue into higher educations.

yeah I have to refine it and write it up and get hte necessary help, money, time etc. :-) I think if I get at least a MA in psychology, that would help with my credibility more.

That sounds like a great start and good model for the rest of the country.

What is your time frame for this project? How many people have signed on so far? (Signed on as in saying they'd like to help, not signed on as in writing just yet.)
