I don't think my day could get any worse unless someone broke into my house and punched me in the face. This is one of those 'drinking from the bottle' days.
What I really need is a job where I never have to deal with people (and I use the term loosely) who feel that it is ok to take their frustrations out on me because I happen to be a cashier. Or crazy people who feel the need to yell at me over things that didn't happen. Or jerk offs who just sit and watch while their demon spawn throws things at me and rams the grocery cart into the customers behind them.
I have always hated people. I have no idea what possessed me to get into the retail business to begin with (actually, that's not true, I got back into it because the money was good).
I guess I just really need to get the book done. At least then I have a shot at something better (even if it is only the knowledge that I tried and failed).
Ah, well. Time for coffee (and Midol, and St Johns Wort). Thanks for listening {{{PJ}}}
Retail sucks! Even if you have the drive and the love of chasing the sales and semi-like people, in short order you end up hating people because ultimately a great percentage of customers suck for no better reason than they can, and get away with it.
I was discussing how more rude customers were than 10 years ago with my regional manager just last week. The warehouse mentality as I refer to it. They got used to shopping the warehouse style stores like Home Depot, Sam's Club, Costco, etc. and what you give up for the price is customer service. The less customer service the more grumbly the customer regardless of cost. This grumbly becomes ingrained and then e v e r y w h e r e they go they take that attitude with them. My regional is a "heppy happy" person and even she agreed that we deal with more shit from people than ever before. Does everyone suck? No. The percentage grows yearly though, and that makes retail become less and less worth the effort.
Thanks. :o) You would think it was a full moon last night the way people were acting. If I had no fear of losing my income, I swear, I would start taking swings at people with those grocery divider sticks. Perhaps teach them to think before they decide it is ok to go off on someone for no reason.
