So, I asked: Where did the myth of "familiars" come from? There are thousands of theories, but the one I found most logical was that back in the day, when Pagans and Druids were coming into England a bit, where it was all Christian, the Pagans and Druids respected nature, especially cats, in a way that the Christians were not acustomed to seeing. Because everyone in England during that time was used to just Christianity, they viewed anything different as being suspicious, therefore coming up with "familiars". Their definition of a "familiar" was the devil in disguise of a small animal that helped a witch.
