... it is not even 2pm yet, but since we are breaking for lunch, I wanted to dart in quick to relate how my Beltane morning went.

I really didn't have any plans for Beltane, and was a little upset that the forecast called for rain. I was, however, awakened at about 7am to a beautiful sunshiny day! I slept a little longer, and got up at around 9am. I had a leisurely bath, read a bit of the end of DDM (which I think I will be finished tonight), and had a great idea of how to spend my day.

I got out of the tub, got dressed, and we walked down to say goodbye to my Halloween tree. This tree was half dead, and the deadwood half always had a huge scraggly, kinda scary halloween tree look to it (the other half bloomed very pretty and green in the summer). It was important to me. It was a kind of a reminder of the good and bad sides of life. So that even when times are tough, you know that the good times are right around the corner. It also had a very friendly vibe, even if it was a little unique to look at ... sort of a 'don't judge a book by its cover' thing.

Last Halloween there was a full moon, and one of my fondest memories is looking up through those bear branches at the full moon. It was very magical to me. I miss my tree.

Wintersdark said that it was dying anyway (he said that the heartwood was dying), and that it was probably better for them to cut it down than have it fall down. Still, I set my small flower upon the remaining wood (that had yet to be taken away), and I think that I will visit those stumps often (the Halloween tree was actually three trees that shared the same root system).

After that somber moment, we walked up the hill to a little antique shop that had an old trunk that I had been eying for a new altar. We walked through the park, enjoying the beauty of spring with all the flowers and trees in bloom, and said hello to the ducks. The antique shop was under new management, and was incredibly cramped. We decided to come back later when there was more room to look around.

Then, on our way back home, we stopped to pick up hamburger buns for lunch. So far, it has been a GREAT day.
