Why ask for opinions if all you want to hear is how right you are? I mean, if I was truly unsure about something, and I posted on a board to those more learned than I, and nearly EVERYONE posted that it was not only a bad idea, but potentially dangerous ... I think that I would be more inclined to believe the VAST majority than the two or three LleWiccans who were spewing the standard "nothing has any power but what you give it ... it is all about what you believe will happen".
This is why I have such little respect for so many of the forums who foster fellowship rather than intelligent discussion. Sure they are a friendlier atmosphere, but what the hell is the point? What do you learn from a place where everyone is always telling you that you are right no matter what asinine thing you want to do?
Sometimes I wish I could be a fly on the wall when all the 'non-judgmental, no one is ever wrong, fellowship' blows up in their faces. The problem is that it will invariably send them scurrying back to the religions of their childhoods with even more 'Pagans are consorting with the devil, even though they don't know it' stories.
Bah! I need a break ...
