When I first moved to New Westminster, one of the coolest things about my new neighbourhood, was finding that one of the local churches (a REALLY old one that looked to be at least a hundred years old) had a tall steeple with four pentacle-shaped stained glass windows ... one on each side. I loved that church (I might have even gone to check out a Sunday service if the signs hadn't been all in Romanian). About a year ago now, the little windows disappeared. I wasn't CERTAIN that they were taken down because they were pents, but I had my suspicions (I knew that they hadn't been broken prior to their removal). A few weeks ago, though, I noticed that they have now been replaced by white and black crucifix windows.
Why is it that people must ruin something that is historically beautiful just because they need to have their panties in a bunch over something?? It makes me think of that woman in the UK who took a hammer to the Sheila-Na-Gig carving in her church because it offended her sensibilities. I wish I knew the day they had taken down the originals, I would have asked to buy them ... if for no other reason than to protect a bit of history.
Sometimes I have no faith in humanity. When people have nothing better to do with their time than protest a cartoon that they don't let their kids watch anyway ... or how people can have the audacity to protest against anti-discrimination laws (in a country they DON'T live in!) ... where people are just not happy unless they are bitching about SOMETHING (like the fact that whatever item they want to buy dares to change price when the new flyer comes out) ... they make me want to go and live in a cave ... with a shotgun >_<
