Book 2 - A Druid's Herbal For the Sacred Earth Year

This was one of the books that my brother got for me (or rather, that he paid for and I picked out ... I love gift cards :) ) for Yule.  I really loved this one.  It had bits of lore and stories as well as Magical, Medicinal and Homeopathic info for a variety of different herbs (and just about every occasion in life that one can think of).  It also has a pronunciation guide in the back so that you don't trip over all of the Irish words that are used (even the Festival names are in Irish in this one).

I really think that this book could have easily been twice as long.  I would have liked to see the 'Women's Issues' section seperated from the 'Raising Children/Growing Up' section because I really think that there could have been a lot more detail to both.

The bibliography includes both Culpepper's and Lust's herbals (as well as a myriad of others), so I feel fairly confident using the information in this book.  I have been thinking about what Jet said about picking two herbs to work with for the year and learning all you can about them.  I think I have picked Rosemary and St John's Wort.

Now, I don't currently have a St John's Wort plant, and if I have a great deal of trouble getting my hands on one, my second choice is Cowslip (since they are pretty easy to come by all things considered).

I definitely recommend this book for anyone who loves herbs (me!) and has even a slightly Irish/Celtic bent to their path (also me!).
