I think that everyone who has a weight problem (every woman, anyway) has a set of 'skinny cloths' that they keep. I know I did. I kept them so that I would have something to wear when I got back down to that size. Now that I have (mostly, still one more pants size to my ideal), I have gone through my closet. I now have a huge bag of clothes to go to the Sally An and not a whole lot to wear. I had kept my skinny clothes for so long that they we WAY out of style and most weren't the style of clothing that I find comfortable now.
I have my last pair of skinny pants waiting for me to fit into them. I highly doubt that I will wear them again after they do. I just keep them as a sort of measure, now.
For a long time (a very long time), my skinny clothes were really just a sense of denial. I didn't want to admit that I was overweight and it would take some serious doings to get myself back into those clothes. I have to wonder if women who wear clothes that are very much too small for them are also having serious denial issues. Today at work I saw a woman who was keeping her shirt together at the chest with a paperclip.
I think that (assuming I ever have extra money again) the best part of finally losing weight is buying new clothes. I think I will ask Santa for a shopping spree this Christmas ;)

Date: 2006-09-22 04:18 am (UTC)Also, I have given up on change rooms. They always keep them so hot that when I try on clothes I end up leaving with clothes that are at least a size too big. Now, I just buy what looks right (or the right size), and if they don't fit, I bring them back. Surprisingly enough, I have better luck that way.

Date: 2006-09-22 01:21 pm (UTC)But, yeah, I'm once again staring into my closet and thinking "I haven't got a thing to wear that isn't casual wear." I am about to take up the job hunt in earnest again, and I'm going to need some work clothes. meh.

Date: 2006-09-22 05:34 pm (UTC)I have the 'casual wear' problem too. The only pants I have that aren't jeans right now are my work pants. Same with my shoes. One pair of nice shoes - all the rest are sandals. Though, I suppose that is what I get for losing all my weight in the summer ;)

Date: 2006-09-23 05:10 pm (UTC)It's the problem with haing boobs disproportionate to your size, they tend to think short people have teeny boobs here and my DD cups disagree.
I don't have skinny clothes anymore. I've given up on them (plus theyre ugly) I binned them two weeks ago when I started putting away my clothes in the brand new chest of drawers. =)
Clearly buying new clothes is one of the best things about loosing weight, that and the insane joy you feel when you go into a shop that you couldn't have bought from before and you BUY nice stuff. =)

I like to believe that the smaller I get, the smaller my boobs will get and that one day I will be able to buy cute little bras off the rack rather than having to hunt for the huge monster ones (it is so much harder finding DD in less than a 42 band size).

Date: 2006-09-23 09:33 pm (UTC)I can't find DD bras ANYWHERE in my size.. in the itsy bitsy sizes (28 DD) or in the giganto sizes (42DD) I can, so I either have to get nice and round or teeny skinny and then I'd bet the blooming shirts would STILL need to be pinned!
